Project Types

Architactile_Inception_New_ProjectArchitactile Inception implements the concept of “Project Types” which provide a predefined set of Use Group Types that are common for the specified type of project. The Project Type is set when the project is created on the “New Project” screen seen in the screenshot to the right.

The initial release of Architactile Inception contains 3 project types:

Generic Project can be used for any project. It doesn’t provide a predefined list of Use Group types and requires all Use Group data to be entered manually.

Low Density Residential provides a predefined list of spaces (Use Groups) that are common in residential projects. For each Use Group Type, the Low Density Residential Project Type provides low, medium and high quality levels (as cost/square foot) that are automatically scaled  using the project’s Location Cost Factor.

Church provides a predefined list of spaces (Use Groups) that are common in churches. For each Use Group Type, the Church Project Type provides low, medium and high quality levels (as cost/square foot) that are automatically scaled  using the project’s Location Cost Factor. In addition to quality level, each Use Group Type also provides a low, medium and high occupancy density (area per occupant).

In the near future Architactile will be providing additional predefined project types as well as tools to create, modify and share user defined project types.

Architactile_Inception_Use_Group_Types

When a project is created with a project type other than “Generic Project,” a pull-down list of Use Group Types is available when adding Use Groups.  The list in this screenshot is from the Church project type. The name of the Use Group is initially set to the name of the Use Group Type, but this may be edited after the Use Group Type is selected.

Architactile_Inception_Occupancy_Density

In this screenshot the Use Group Type “Classroom” has been selected. In the new column the medium (default) occupancy density of 15sf/occupant can be seen. The density field is selected for editing causing the onscreen keyboard to be displayed at the bottom of the page. Any arbitrary value may be entered. Alternatively, one of the low, medium, high presets may be selected by tapping the corresponding button that appears at the top of the keyboard.

Architactile_Inception_Quality

This screenshot shows the low, medium and high quality (cost per area) buttons at the top of the keyboard.  Theses values are scaled using the calculated Location Cost Factor for the current project.

For Use Group Types where both the occupancy density and quality are defined, an estimated area and budgetary cost can be calculated simply by providing an expected occupancy.
